The Bled - (2003) Pass the Flask

sound: Hardcore/Screamo
length: 10 songs, 38.17 minutes
myspace
1. Red Wedding
2. You Know Who's Seatbelt
3. I Never Met Another Gemini
4. Ruth Buzzi Better Watch Her Back
5. Sound Of Sulfur
6. Porcelain Hearts And Hammers for Teeth
7. Get Up You Son Of A Bitch, Cause Mickey Loves Ya
8. Spitshine Sonata
9. We Are The Industry
10. Nothing We Say Leaves This Room

This record is so fucking solid, so epically awesome, so GODDAMN outrageous i feel completely ashamed of myself for not putting it up earlier. Honestly i have been setting my heart to self destruct since 2003 when this fucking monster of a masterpiece first had it's way with my ear pussies. Also i'm pretty sure there was a time in my life when Porcelain Hearts was a must hear in order to survive.

Dead Poetic - (2002) Four Wall Blackmail

sound: Post Hardcore/Screamo
length: 10 songs, 38.6 minutes
myspace
01 Burgundy
02 The Corporate Enthusiast
03 A Green Desire
04 Four Wall Blackmail
05 August Winterman
06 Ollie Otson
07 Bliss Tearing Eyes
08 Stereochild
09 Arlington Eyes
10 Tell Myself Goodbye

I actually cannot believe this isn't already on here. Instant Classic. If you've already listened to Vices or New Medicines then check your expectations at the door. This is without doubt the best Dead Poetic record to date. Still loud, still explosive, but not the ear splitting melodies of Glass in the Trees. This album is gorgeous and heartfelt, beautiful universal lyrics and heavy screams over just fucking Solid drums from Burgandy to Tell Myself Goodbye. Honestly if August Winterman weren't such a wrist splitter it would still be in constant rotation on my ipod, and StereoChild is still fucking righteous. Re-educate.

The Messenger - (2008) Let's Get Dangerous

sound: Punk Rock/Screamo
length: 13 songs, 59.9 minutes
myspace
1. This Eagle Has Landed
2. A Gondola Ride In Paris
3. Hey, Vanity!
4. Latina Heat
5. Sex & John Candy
6. Facility In Under 2:05
7. Make Me
8. Outline Of A Monster
9. Nothing Says Party Like A Box Of Fine Wine
10. I Was Born In A Holiday Inn
11. Oh Girl, Just Music
12. They Say My Name Is...
13. Passando O Ano Novo Na Praia

This band is like a more melodical Kane Hodder, or a less depressing Scary Kids. In my opinion this record has all the appeal of a more popular Punk Rock right now, yet still has the progressive sound of say Lady Radiator. Pretty catchy, pretty entertaining and a possible listen for the screamo crowd.

Alexisonfire - (2009) Old Crows/ Young Cardinals

sound: Post Hardcore/Screamo
length: 11 songs, 42.24 minutes
myspace
1. "Old Crows" 4:19
2. "Young Cardinals" 3:39
3. "Sons of Privilege" 3:23
4. "Born and Raised" 4:03
5. "No Rest" 3:39
6. "The Northern" 4:30
7. "Midnight Regulations" 4:13
8. "Emerald Street" 3:17
9. "Heading for the Sun" 3:47
10. "Accept Crime" 3:16
11. "Burial" 4:18
*12. "Wayfarer Youth" 3:41
Let me begin with, Alexisonfire is still, to me, theonlybandever.com . However, if you fans of AOF haven't made peace with Crisis odds are your not going to give this record a chance. And if you are that guy, then fuck you my friend because this record is pretty damn good. So far the biggest problem people have with this album is that George "sounds different". News flash, it's been 9 fucking years since the self titled press. This record is not the poetic guitars of that record, but what it lacks in musicality it makes up for with rough edges and pure rockability.
Honestly in this record especially, AOF learned how best to utilize both George's scratchy vocals and Dallas's lovely tones to create one gorgeous harmony instead of two dueling vocalist as in the past. Gems include Born and Raised and Heading for the Sun. Also The Northern is fucking TOUGH kids. Dallas gets me every fucking time with that deceptively gorgeous shit, and Ratbeard is still one of the baddest drummers of all time and space.

Vanna - (2009) A New Hope

sound: Punk Rock/Screamo
length: 12 songs, 42.2 minutes
myspace
1. Let's Have An Earthquake 1:22
2. Into Hell's Mouth We March 3:01
3. The Same Graceful Wind 3:55
4. Like Changing Seasons 3:48
5. Trashmouth 2:30
6. Safe to Say 4:01
7. We Are Nameless 3:52
8. Sleepwalker 3:46
9. Where We Are Now 4:07
10. Ten Arms 4:02
11. Life and Limb 3:55
12. The Sun Sets Here 3:55

Firstly, hadn't ever heard of Vanna but i was told sounded like recent SKSK so i thought i would give it a whirl. In that it's outrageously catchy i would concur, but beyond that i would disagree. In my opinion this record has a totally different vibe, and this band has a very distinct sound all their own. At first listen their more a cross between all that's great about Underøath's vocals, SevenStoryFall's drums, and SKSK dueling guitars. For all the Silverstein fans who were disappointed with A Ship Wreck in the Sand download this shit.

A Thorn For Every Heart - (2004) Things Aren't So Beautiful Now...

sound: Punk Rock
length: 10 songs, 30.59 minutes
myspace
1. "99 with an Anchor" – 3:32
2. "February" – 2:48
3. "A Night to Remember, A Morning to Forget" – 3:21
4. "Next of Kin" – 2:51
5. "The Prediction" – 3:07
6. "Streetcar" – 2:59
7. "Summer So Bleak" – 3:36
8. "Pretty When You Cry" – 2:52
9. "Things Aren't So Beautiful Now (Part I)" – 2:32
10. "Things Aren't So Beautiful Now (Part II)" – 3:23

So even though their second album is a steaming pile of sell-out Pop bullshit, this album is just fine. This album showcases their drummer who by far is the most talented musician in this band. Saw these guys live once before their new album came out, they kicked ass. However, if your into the new sound of Funeral For a Friend or bands like Ivoryline, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus then by all means I'm sure you'll love their newer shit too.

3. "One Day Women Will All Become Monsters" – 3:32
4. "Expired in Goreville" – 2:55
5. "Baby, You Wouldn’t Last A Minute on the Creek" – 4:40

11. "No Hardcore Dancing in the Living Room" – 5:10
12. "Who's Sandie Jenkins?" – 1:59
13. "To Trixie and Reptile, Thanks for Everything" – 4:17

You can snub your nose at this all you want, god knows i did until i actually listened to it. I like it, and i used to like the band until they put out Bone Palace Ballet. Which in my opinion is a heaping pile of shit, also somewhere during listening to that album i realized when Craig whispers he sounds like Herbert from Family Guy. So.... their you go, listen to this album.

A Static Lullaby - (2006) A Static Lullaby

sound: Post Hardcore/Screamo
length: 12 songs, 46.38 minutes
myspace
1. "Hang 'Em High" – 3:59
2. "Contagious" – 4:09
3. "Annexation of Puerto Rico" – 3:46
4. "The Art of Sharing Lovers" – 3:35
5. "The Collision" – 4:01

7. "Eager Cannibals" – 2:55
8. "Life in a Museum" – 3:56

10. "Static Slumber Party" – 3:47
11. "Mechanical Heart" – 5:50
12. "Let Go" (bonus track) – 3:18

I fucking love this band. But i think alot of the reason i listen to them is because i want to sex their drummer, soo hard. He has admirably large... talent. Srsly though, good album, opening to Life In a Museum is epic. Mechanical Heart best song on the album hands down.

Dead Poetic - (2004) New Medicines

sound: Post Hardcore/Screamo
length: 11 songs, 48.32 minutes
myspace
1. "Taste the Red Hands" – 2:58
2. "The Dream Club Murders" – 3:49
3. "New Medicines" – 4:01
4. "Vanus Empty" – 3:55
5. "Bury the Difference" – 3:33
6. "Molotov" – 3:46
7. "Glass in the Trees" – 5:01
8. "Dimmer Light" – 4:06
9. "Hostages" – 3:22
10. "Modern Morbid Prophecies" – 3:52
11. "A Hoax to Live For" – 10:08 (Song Ends at 2:52)
12. "Zonshine" (Hidden- Starts at 4:21)

If you liked their first album then there is no promise from me that you'll enjoy this, and vise versa. However, i fucking loved their first press, but think this one is way better. Depressing lyrics and all. If you find you like this, you might try Vices their third. Not really my cup of tea, but watev.

7. Where No One Knows Your Name
8. The Kennedy Curse
9. Jubella
10. Little Girls Pointing And Laughing
11. Pulmonary Archery

I figured i would post this for nostalgia if nothing else. It's one of the few records i fucking loved when i was in high school, that i still fucking love now. The guitars are like a glorious symphony, over or under Wade's obnoxious screams and Dallas' sad wails. I love this record with green eggs, under tree, all that shit. Besides Little Girls Pointing and Laughing might be the greatest song of all time.

A Static Lullaby - (2008) Rattlesnake!

Sound: Post Hardcore/Screamo
Length: 11 songs, 41.1 minutes
myspace
1. "Rattlesnake!" – 3:34
2. "Bear Trap" – 3:46
3. "The Turn" – 3:23
4. "Scavenger" – 4:44
5. "The Prestige" – 4:06
6. "Aller au Diable" – 4:10

8. "The Pledge" – 3:20
9. "Under Water Knife Fight" – 3:14
10. "Everybody's Got a Lil' Fonz N' Em" – 4:08

Loud, demanding. Much more in the vein of their third album ASL. If you enjoyed that one, maybe you'll like this one. Listen to the Turn, if you don't find the drums rolling around in your head for a week, put down the record.
