[ITK] Protestant

sound: Hardcore/Punk
myspace + direct merch mail order.

So here's a band that you want to be In The Know about, these guys play a brand of Hardcore i cant really say i've had much interest in since i was like 15, HOWEVER for some reason this band is striking a chord with me right now. So to Protestant thanks for playing killer 1/2 drumbeats filling my headphones with your throaty punk goodness. These guys are DIY  and straight out of Milwaukee. They say they are out to "destroy shittymetalcore and mtv hardcore", if this is some sort of movement please fucking sign me up twice. They have a handful of music around including an epic fucking split with Northless on you guessed it, InkBlot.
By the way the Dead as We Look LP is fucking uncontrollable. If you like Hardcore, or have been known to use the term Metal sparingly you'll probably want to check these guys out. If you're not a fan of what "Hardcore" actually entails there's a pretty good chance these dudes might make you wet the bed, just FYI. Cheers.

sounds like: the Chariot, old the Bled, Vallon

Botch [2002] Anthology of Dead Ends [EP]

sound: Hardcore/Mathcore

Mostly i wanted to post this cus im going to be gone again for a little bit coaching, and i wanted to make sure you all had something i know to be Fucking Fantastic. Firstly, who doesn't have love in their hearts for groundbreaking and genre defining [yeah i fucking said that] math-letes Botch? Secondly, in case you've haven't been around the bcb for the last two years i have a ginormous boner for Dave Knudson [clearly that's a joke, because i am, after all, a lady]. And thirdly if you hadn't heard of Botch till two seconds ago where the fuck have you been??? Deafening feedback to throaty screams, ear splitting hand numbing guitar riffs you couldn't even dream of imitating to heavy heart pounding drums that make you want to dance in a circle and punch the dude next to you?? They even through in Afghamastam for pussies who said they were too loud. If Micaragua doesn't make you want to get the fuck up, there's a good chance nothing ever will. This was  Botch's last record, and icing on the coffin to quiet possibly the best thing to ever come out of Washington [sorry Nirvana fans, i just went there]. If you'd like to fist fight over that, you'll have to wait till i get back, Cheers you fucks!!!

this on CDEP from HydraHead.

sounds like:  maybe Norma Jean or the Chariot, they sound like fucking Botch

Bang = 192kbps.

Things that Disappointed in 2009: Pt. II

Hardcore:

The Chariot - War and Rumors of War
Maybe I've grown out of this band, or something but this record did not do it for me. It's just more of the same great band, ok record just nothing really stood out on it. Still got love for The Fiancee though.

Indie Rock:

Dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion
Not that i was in love with Catch Without Arms , but it was decent if i was in the mood, so i was sort of looking forward to this album [but not really]. Then it came out and it sounds like some weird John Cecada shit. Not even remotely interested, thanks.

Indie/Funk:

The Gossip - Music For Men
I really like Standing in the Way of Control, still not sure completely why it's not really my style. Not that this record isn't in the same fashion it just didn't really get me this time, but still got love for this band.

the Chariot - (2007) the Fiancee

sound: Hardcore
length: 10 songs, 29.6 minutes

01. Back to Back
02. They Faced Each Other
03. They Drew Their Swords
04. And Shot Each Other
05. The Deaf Policeman
06. Heard This Noice
07. Then Came to Kill
08. The Two Dead Boys
09. Forgive Me Nashville
10. The Trumpet

If Satan had a favorite band, i am pretty fucking sure it would be The Chariot. Which is to say if the Lord of the Underworld had a day off and had the time and opportunity to go to a show, im pretty sure it would be a Chariot show and i know from experience it would peel the fucking skin from his bones. Also look for Hayley Williams on the track "Then Came to Kill". Confused? Don't be, both bands are from Nashville (sort of) and she's a huge fan.

(and yes, i do realize this is a Christian band FUNSIZE)

sounds like: The Bled, Norma Jean

This record is so fucking solid, so epically awesome, so GODDAMN outrageous i feel completely ashamed of myself for not putting it up earlier. Honestly i have been setting my heart to self destruct since 2003 when this fucking monster of a masterpiece first had it's way with my ear pussies. Also i'm pretty sure there was a time in my life when Porcelain Hearts was a must hear in order to survive.

Any Band that gets to tour with Thursday and La Dispute is alright by me. Their gritty guitar lines and coarse vocals are well distributed over a manner of tracks that screams musicality instead of mindless crunch on this mesmerizing press. Cheers to a band with the good sense to match intricate riffs, with intelligent lyrics. This could be my new favorite record.

REQUEST: Showbread Discography

sound: Punk/Screamo/Post Hardcore
length: 6 albums, **13 songs, 54.13 minutes
myspace

I'm going to preface this by saying I listened to No Sir, Nihilism in hs and loved it to death. Several songs stand the test of time like So Selfish It's Funny, Dead by Dawn, and Mouth like a Magazine. However, besides that album, idk what Showbread sounded like later on. Although i will say i own Life, Kisses, and Other Wasted Efforts and think it's alright too. My fond memories of Showbread remembers them as loud, energetic, and a youthful cross between singing and Alot of fucking screaming. Honestly, re-listening to these albums reminded me of a time when skateboarding, and playing way too god damned loud in someone's garage was a daily routine. So to who ever requested this, cheers.

(1999) Goodbye is Forever
